Belgium Shepherd – Groenendael

Of medium size, males height ideally 62cm to the garret while females ideally 58cm to the garret, small and triangular ears positioned high on the skull and brought erected. The back is firm and straight, is a dog of strong structure but at the same time maintains an elegant appearance. Weight of +- 30kg. Coat of good length of +-5cm. The coat is longer and dense around the neck, the chest, the legs and the tail. The tail covers well the thighs at the back; a part called “Culotte". The color is entirely black backpack from head to tail. This dog silhouette is extremely beautiful and elegant. It is a dog that has the characteristic of being careful and alert; this makes the Groenendael an excellent guarding dog and at the same time a beautiful and useful dog. Very fond of its owners, it reacts strongly and quickly to whomever or whatever may threaten material goods and its owners. The Groenendal is a courageous, clever and docile animal and at the same time has a very good nose. All of these characteristics make him an excellent guard and defense dog. In Switzerland is very appreciated as avalanche dog.
